FIELDS, Walter Nelson, " Butch " age 76, of Dayton, passed away Saturday, July 10, 2010 of C.O.P.D. (emphysema).
Walter was born December 21, 1933 to Della (Rogers) and John R. Fields in Morehead, KY. After many years in Dayton, he lived at Toledo Bend Reservoir in Texas and was a fishing guide for more than 26 years. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, serving during the Korean War and a member of the AmVets Post #24 and the VFW Post #431.
Preceded in death by his parents and his son, Ronald W. Fields, Walter is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Cathy and Miles Johnson of Centerville, and Marsha and William Osman of West Milton; his son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Sheena Fields of Singapore; 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert S. Fields of Dayton, and many more friends and family both in Ohio and Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, July 15 at the Morton and Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. Burial will follow at Trissel Cemetery in New Lebanon. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Dayton Veterans Administration Hospice, 4100 W. Third St., Dayton, OH.
